Saying “Goodbye” is never easy, which is why I have been avoiding writing this blog post. SLI 2011 has come to an end: the dorm is empty, students have gone home, teachers and RAs have gone home. But, thanks to Facebook and email we are able to stay in contact with each other! I am working on getting the rest of my photos uploaded to the photo site (click on the photo along the right side of the blog to get to the photos!).
I would like to take a moment to thank some special people for their part in SLI:
-Robin: THANK YOU. You are a wonderful leader and we appreciate your hard work in getting SLI up and running each summer.
-Teachers: Thank you for taking time out of your summer to come to Lithuania and teach English. We obviously wouldn’t accomplish too much without you
Thank you for your dedication to the students!
-RDs and RAs: Thank you for hanging out with the students and helping them get through 3 weeks away from home. Thank you for putting on Tea and Games and giving students a fun and safe place to live and hang out.
-Kel and James: Thank you for putting on the Journey Groups and for providing a place for students to learn and discuss big topics (relationships, God, love, etc…).
And a super huge thank you to the STUDENTS! Thank you for coming! I really had no idea that I would learn so much from you and that I would be able to connect with so many of you. I truly miss you and am so thankful we can keep in touch via Facebook and email. I know that the teachers, RAs, and other students feel the same way.
With all of that being said, this really isn’t a “goodbye,” it is a “see you later!” I hope that the relationships you formed with each other will continue to grow, even though you may not be living right down the hall from your friends. I hope that you value these relationships and I also hope that some of you will get to see each other again someday!
Check back in the next few days for some photos and videos from SLI 2011!
